What happens if the PTSA does not make the $125,000 goal?
We pivot. PTSA goals must align with our resources and community’s priorities. In December we conduct a mid-year budget review and will review any impacts to this year’s budget. We also consider revenue when we craft budgets in spring.
Important funding will be cut. The PTSA committed to funding a .6 Counselor and tutors this school year so that will not change, but it does mean funding for classroom stipends, student events and supports, help for families in need, and school supports will be decreased or cut this year in order to ensure we have enough to fund our committed staffing grants. It’s heartbreaking, but a reality we are ready to accept if needed
The PTSA will reconsider helping fund staffing positions. Whitman has lost 7 FTE (full time equivalent teaching staff) over the past few years, with decreased funding from our state and a school district in a financial crisis things are estimated to get worse before they get better. Depending on funding levels, the PTSA will have to reconsider the level of financial commitment to our school.
Why is the AGC goal so high this year?
Because the need is so high! This year the PTSA decided to experiment by funding .6 of a school Counselor and math tutors. Increased funding gaps from our district and state have created a real need in our hallways. While funding dwindles, our students still need critical support. We are committed to our school and students and to making Whitman a great place for our Wildcats to learn and grow.
The AGC is only three weeks, can we keep it open longer?
My company does a double/triple match on Giving Tuesday (12/1), can I donate then?
Of course! The PTSA will accept support from our community at any time; the official AGC will be open until 10/16. Any funds received after 10/16 will still go directly to our students and school and will be greatly appreciated.
Where does PTSA funding go?
You name it, the PTSA is probably helping with it. PTSA funding truly impacts every student at Whitman through educational, classroom, and teacher support and also helps fund student activities like the Pride Store, activity days and dances, after school clubs, student grants, and promotion. Donate to the AGC! We are asking that families consider a $350 donation per student. For some, $350 per student may not be possible, others may be able to donate more. Donations of any amount are welcome and all will be targeted directly towards our classrooms. No amount is too small, every dollar supports our Wildcats!
Please note: When making your donation, you do NOT need to tip zeffy (the donation platform). When donating use the dropdown menu to select “other” then write in “$0”.
Share the fundraiser! Consider sharing AGC information with those in your sphere.
