Make an
impact today
We all know the importance of working together to improve our public schools. Each fall the Whitman PTSA asks our community to join in addressing this need through the Annual Giving Campaign (AGC), a direct appeal designed to provide funding for teacher and principal identified needs for academic support and enhancements at our school.
This year’s goal is $125,000,
help us raise these critical funds.
The AGC runs from 9/29 - 10/16

PTSA Impact
The Whitman Math Department is immensely grateful for the PTSA’s support!
Thanks to the PTSA, we have been able to offer tutoring to students who need extra support in math. Small-group tutoring is a research-backed intervention for students with gaps in their math knowledge. For many families, however, tutoring is out of reach financially. Because of the PTSA’s support, we have been able to offer tutoring free of charge to dozens of students each year, and we have seen these students make tremendous strides in their confidence and math achievement!
The PTSA has also generously funded supplemental materials through the Curriculum Enrichment Fund grants. These CEF grants have funded vertical whiteboards for highly engaging group work, manipulatives to support students with algebraic reasoning, calculators, and materials to support the new math empowerment elective class. These materials have helped us make our math lessons more engaging and accessible to students. Thank you PTSA!!

PTSA funding keeps allows the Whitman Library a robust selection of books:
Every time a student excitedly tells me about a book they loved, asks if I can order the next book in a series, or discovers a new favorite author, I see the impact of PTSA support.
Your generosity allows me to purchase and curate the books our students are asking to read, helping us maintain a vibrant, current collection that is one of the most used in the district. I receive over 45,000 individual visits by students throughout the year and check out more than 15,000 times!
Your support means students who may not have books at home can still have access to great stories and information, and it helps support our ELA book club and supplemental reading programs.
And now as a phone-free school, we're seeing even more students turn to books during the school day, making access to engaging reading materials more important than ever.
Although district funding for library materials has improved in recent years, our collection is still rebuilding after decades of little to no funding and continues to receive less than the national average for school libraries. PTSA support helps bridge that gap and ensures every student can find books that spark curiosity, build a love of reading, and help them see themselves and others in the stories they read.
— Ms. Johnson, Librarian
The STEM Lab relies on the generous support of our PTSA to fund two impactful projects for our students:
The first is our STEM Mission Patch project, in which our sixth graders compete in a design challenge to create a NASA-style mission patch representing their cohort, tied to their Flight and Space unit. Thanks to our PTSA, we are able to have the winning patch each semester embroidered, and every student who takes STEM during the semester gets to take a patch home! It has been a great team-building event that students look forward to every year.
Thanks to the PTSA, we are now in our fourth year of this young tradition!
Our second project involves our Robotics Club. The PTSA provides much-needed funds for our team t-shirts, which will be very important this season as we look to participate in our first-ever district competition in December! Students will go into their first event ready to proudly represent Whitman!
Neither of these projects would come to light without the generous support of our PTSA and the Curriculum Enrichment Fund grants. I am incredibly thankful to be working in a community with such supportive and engaged families!

Physical Education in the Classroom and On the Field
I am extremely grateful for the support we get from our school community. Over the past few years, our PE team has reached out for funding to replace or get new PE equipment for our students. This provides students with a different array of resources that we can use for instruction. The new equipment also allows students for more opportunities to find some kind of physical activity they can enjoy throughout their lifetime.
I am also appreciative of all of our community members that have stepped as coaches to support our student athletes. This first allows our school the opportunity to field different teams for the sports that are offered by the district. Secondly, you help our student athletes form crucial lasting memories that they can use to continue in athletic engagement throughout their student careers.
All in all, thank you for everything you give to our school.
PTSA funding has a meaningful impact on the work we do to support the whole student and their family.
These funds allow our counseling team to provide practical and emotional support to families who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. Through resources such as food bank support, assistance with clothing and groceries, and providing access to math tutoring, we are able to help remove barriers that can make it difficult for students to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
PTSA funding also helps make it possible to increase our second counselor from 0.4 to full-time, expanding our counseling capacity and allowing us to provide more consistent, responsive support to students and families throughout the school year.
PTSA funding helps us respond to individual family needs with compassion and provides resources that might otherwise be unavailable. We are incredibly grateful for the partnership and generosity of our PTSA and the difference it makes in the lives of our students and families.

Our Partnership with the PTSA Builds Class Community
The success of many Whitman programs relies on PTSA support. In the classroom, PTSA funding helps bring more resources and variety, like supplies for team building games or class sets of books for class reads. Every dollar of support goes a long way to help our students succeed and our community grow.
Student Pride and the Pride Store
The PTSA has impacted Whitman and my teaching or my experience at Whitman in a profound way! The Whitman PTSA has enabled me to provide the Pride Store to the entire student body.
Students can work in the Pride Store to build confidence by contributing to the community, communicating with others, and building relationships. The Pride Store also offers a way for teachers to reward students without having to dig into their own pockets. Students can select items that most interest them from snacks to fidget toys.
The PTSA funded Pride Store helps us build a powerfully positive community that gives our students ownership, empowerment, and fun!
