Fall Girl’s C-Team Coaches Needed!
Whitman is working on finalizing practice times for all sports, but soccer practices will most likely be Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Application Information:
Application. All Coaches are required to apply for their coaching position, regardless if returning or new to the program. If you are new and the season has started, please apply to be a Volunteer Athletic Coach (‘VAC’).
Middle School and K8 – Head Coach Application

Fingerprints. If you are new Coach or a Volunteer Athletic Coach, fingerprints are required immediately after your application. Prints remain in the system for two years and an appointment is required. There is a cost of $60 and acceptable payment forms are check or money order – cash, debit or credit cards will NOT be accepted. To schedule your fingerprinting appointment, please go to Fingerprint Scheduling or telephone them at 206.252.0215.
CPR and First Aid. Your certificate should be valid throughout the duration of the season. Should it expire during the season, you are asked to renew it PRIOR to the start of the season. As a reminder, you can take blended classes (online and in-person) but the in-person must be completed in order for your certificate to be valid for two (2) years within ninety (90) days. Available course can be found: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or Seattle Children’s Upcoming Certification Classes.
Trainings. Below is a list of required trainings and their renewal period:
Adult Sexual Misconduct: this should be completed biennially.
If you are staffed, a longer version is required of you.
Concussion: this should be completed triennially through NFHS
Sudden Cardiac Arrest: this should be completed triennially through NFHS
Forward your certificates to your Athletic Coordinator AND Athletic Office so we can review and provide clearance
One to Two Months Commitment:
Whitman Appreciation Week: Whitman LOVES our teachers and staff! This committee usually meets for about a month, including implementing the programs. Teams work collaboratively with community members within Whitman and the surrounding area to spread kindness and goodwill. Meetings are flexible to the needs of the committee.
Single Day Activities (Trivia and BINGO): These fun committees usually meet for about two months weekly. Meetings times vary depending on the availability of the committee and usually last no more than an hour. The day of the event, the committee and other day-of volunteers work together to host these exciting events.
The Annual Giving Campaign: The PTSA’s direct giving fundraiser has about a 2 month commitment and usually meets in the evening, every two weeks and then weekly as the event nears. This committee has opportunities for everyone: from the lover of excel files, to writing copy, to raising awareness of the campaign.
Nominating Committee: Easily one of the most important, this committee actively seeks the future leaders of the PTSA . Committee meetings are flexible and depend on the availability of its members.
8th Grade Promotion: 8th grade is a special time for our students. The 8th grade promotion committee ensures that all 8th grade students have a welcoming and fun departure from Whitman. Committee meetings are flexible to the needs of the committee.
Volunteering at Whitman provides a great opportunity to provide invaluable assistance to teachers and staff, get to know other families at school, make great friends, have lots of fun, and help us grow as a school community, whether you help from school or from home. We all have something to contribute. We welcome your involvement as a volunteer!
Start here! Before you can volunteer for our school, you must make sure you are an approved SPS volunteer.
If you only have time to volunteer every once in a while:
Join our volunteer pool. Help with PTSA projects big and small! Some roles are done from home only a few hours a year.
During the school year, the ASB (Associated Student Body) also needs parent volunteers to help run events such as the Fall Carnival, dances, and more. These events happen during and after school and offer a variety of time options.
If you have time to volunteer after work or in the evenings:
Join a Committee or be part of the PTSA Board! The Whitman PTSA sponsors a wide variety of family and student programs and activities throughout the year. Committee meetings are held mostly in the evenings and many may be done online.
If you have consistent time, year round to volunteer:
Sign up to be part of Hall Crew! Hall Crew volunteers are a friendly adult presence in the hallways at lunchtime; they encourage our Wildcat students to Be Safe, Be Respectful and to Be Responsible. It is an easy way to get involved and has a huge impact!
